Barnyards and Barbwire

SPACES, in cooperation with Downtown Rafters is hosting a charity concert on March 5th and 6th to benefit the Coalition for Kids, Coalition For Kids. A portion of the proceeds will contribute to meeting the Coalition’s daily operating needs and achieving specific organizational goals. The two-day event will be called “Barnyards and Barbwire”

downBleed Release TONIGHT / Gretchen to play Gatsby's Sat Night

This weekend is shaping up to be a terrific weekend musically.

First downBleed headlines a hard and heavy lineup including: WFO, Underpass, and Omega Tribe. Their new CD, 'Bleed for Me' will be on sale that night too. The $5 show starts at 10PM tonight at Heather's HideAway.

Other show Friday night include: Doyll, NeverBefore @ Rafters Johnson City, GRETCHEN @ (Java J's) Bristol, CattleAxe (formerly Tragically White) @ Taps in Johnson City, and Moossa with Rob Russell and the Sore Losers at the Sophisticated Otter.

The other big show of the weekend will be Gretchen opening for Blindsite Saturday night at Gatsby's. This show is also $5 and starts at 11pm.

DownBleed’s new CD entitled, “Bleed For Me” will be available Feb 20 when they play Heather’s Hide-Away with a full line up that includes: Omega Tribe, WFO, and Underpass. If you buy it from the band it will be $6, but you will be able to find it soon at DADS (in Johnson City, Bristol, and Abingdon) and at the Music Palace (Rogersville) for $8.99.

Dual Anti-Racism concerts on Feb 14

The buzz on The Buzz has, well, been buzzing about the scheduled anti-racisim shows in Johnson City, TN. Here is what is known - Saturday night at Heather's Hide-Away - Harem Scarem (All-female punk), The Rotting, Stopsign Asshole, and Without Cause will be playing the Anti-Racism charity show. The money for this show will go to Anti-Racist Action. This show starts at 9pm with a $5 cover charge. Also the same night at Rafters, Broken Soul Productions & AFT Entertainment presents Rock for Anti-Racism 2004 featuring Wheatstone Bridge, Zombie Attack, Never Before, and Frayed Not. The start time for this show is 8:00PM and the cover is $6 for all ages(parent/guardian or id for those under 18 required). The money from this show will be going to the Jim Crow Museum in Grand Rapids, MI.

Good causes - Just wish they would find a local charity to help. I have word that a anti-racism movement may be coming to Johnson City. I have contacted the person involved and if things work out on their end, maybe we can raise some money for anti-racism that will stay in the area. Use the comments section here or send me an email (links to the right) if this interests anyone for future Anti-racism benefit shows.
